Sometimes when you play piano, you get tasked with moving pianos. It’s sound logic. Today at work was something else. Three of us left the squadron today thinking we were going to move a small upright piano. When we arrived at location, we realized it was baby grand Kawai. I thought we weren’t going to attempt it and that the job would have to be done by professionals. I was amazed by my coworker’s can do attitude. Amazed meaning very skeptical and extremely nervous. Before I knew it, we took a leg off, tipped it on its side, put on some straps, and lifted it down some steps. (I use the word lifted very loosely). I kid you not, we were watching YouTube videos on how to move a grand piano. Turns out it’s an easy DIY project. At the bottom of the steps we got stuck. We didn’t know the next steps to get it onto the truck. I was amazed by my other friend who calmly made one decision after another to accomplish what was a daunting task. We managed to get the piano up a lift and into a box truck. I’m sharing this story because I was so impressed by my friends who calmly solved a series of difficult problems in a precarious situation. I can’t stress how precarious it felt! Someday I hope to be like Will and Colton!
